A good skincare routine alone cannot correct or reverse certain changes to your skin that appear over time, such as heavier jowls, a softened jawline, or a tired midface. A deep plane facelift in Mountlake Terrace targets those structural shifts, focusing on a natural lift rather than tightness.
At PHASE Plastic Surgery, our team of plastic surgeons keeps the process clear and service-focused. Dr. Richard Baxter plans surgery around your anatomy, your timeline, and your desired long-term results. We will explain what a facelift, or rhytidectomy, can realistically improve, how we preserve your natural expressions, and what to expect during recovery.
What Makes the Deep Plane Technique Different?
A deep plane facelift procedure in Mountlake Terrace works below the surface, supporting the deeper facial layers that influence the cheeks, jawline, and lower face. Instead of relying on skin pull alone, we reposition supportive tissues so the skin can re-drape more smoothly. This often creates a softer, more natural look because the lift comes from structure rather than tension.
This approach can be especially helpful when the midface appears deflated or when jowling affects your profile. It also allows us to target the transition between the lower face and neck in a cohesive way, which matters for balance. During planning, we explain how incision placement and closure techniques support discreet scarring and a natural hairline.
Candidates for a Deep Plane Facelift
If you notice heaviness in the lower parts of your face, deeper smile lines, or a jawline that no longer matches your self-image, you may be seeking a more advanced facelift. For many people, the decision is not about looking younger in an obvious way, but about looking more like themselves again. Patients in Mountlake Terrace often consider a deep plane facelift when they want meaningful improvement without a tight or unnatural finish.
Whether or not a deep plane facelift is your best option depends on overall health, skin quality, and the pattern of facial aging. Maintaining a stable weight and avoiding smoking can help ensure smoother healing and more predictable scar outcomes. During your consultation, we will also discuss your comfort level with downtime and whether the timing of your procedure works best for your work, family, or travel schedule.
What To Expect From Surgery and Recovery
We carefully plan your Mountlake Terrace deep plane facelift procedure to ensure your results are balanced across the lower face, jawline, and neck. On the day of your surgery, our team follows a precise sequence: positioning, careful dissection, structural support, and then tailored skin redraping. We prioritize natural contours, which often means making conservative decisions rather than pursuing maximum tightness.
Recovery is gradual, and it helps to plan for a calm first week. Most people notice swelling and bruising improve step by step, with visible refinement continuing as tissues settle. We provide clear guidance on head elevation, light walking, incision care, and when you can return to work and exercise. Because sun exposure can affect scar appearance even on cloudy days, we also discuss sun protection habits that help scars mature well.
